First things first, I'm okay! As most of you have probably heard by now, there was a terrorist attack in Jerusalem yesterday: (click here to read more). Although I visited this area of Jaffa Street (the site of the terrorism) just three days ago, at the time of the attack yesterday I was sitting happily with my friends Tanmay, Tamara, Jordan, and Becca eating lunch at the campus cafeteria. It wasn't until I came back to work at 1:00 that I heard news of the event from my work buddy Rotem. She seemed a little distraught over the news, but for the most part, everyone around me almost appeared to just shrug off the incident as another case in a line of many previous incidents. One guy at work told me this morning that his wife had been in Jerusalem shortly after the attack and was more nervous about getting to her appointment late as a result of traffic jams, than she was about getting hurt or possible killed. It's a slightly bizarre situation over here, to say the least….
On a lighter note, I've been working diligently at my computer the past couple days and have written some beautiful programs that make very colorful plots. I'm not quite sure how to interpret the plots yet but am meeting with my advisor Rony to discuss them sometime today. This afternoon I'm going to the first lecture in my class on Harmonic Oscillations. It should be fun!! I'm thinking of stopping by Charlie's before the class at 2:00 to grab a drink (non-alcoholic, of course) to keep me awake! Last week I discovered Israeli iced-coffee and haven't been able to resist the temptation of getting one every other day. No, it's not just watered-down coffee mixed with ice. Israeli iced-coffee is a sort of slushee/milkshake/frapuccino concoction which is cold, refreshing, sweet, and incredibly delicious. I'll try and get a photo of one to post, though I doubt a picture will do any sort of justice. I suppose I could fill one of my suitcases chockfull of the tasty drink and smuggle it back to America. My luggage would arrive in Phoenix and roll down the conveyer belt, plopping on the floor with a gooey and delicious splat. Now there's a splendid idea! Mmmm….

So glad you are ok. Thought you would be - but we could not help think of you when we heard the news. Keep up the good work and don't get too high on those iced coffees!
love Alison
You were a couple of days late for the terrorist attack in the London subway, and a couple of days early for a terrorist attack in Jerusalem. Be wary before they zero in on you.
Love Dad
Glad to hear you are ok...I figured you hadn't headed back to Jerusalem a couple days after you just saw it but it is still scary. Who goes to class in the summer for fun??? jk
