KKISS Presentations

Tomorrow is my last day in Israel and since I'll be returning this laptop to my advisor Rony in the morning, my next post will probably be coming from America. As my suitcases are already packed and sitting by my door, my only plans for tomorrow are to have lunch with Rony and have a final farewell dinner with some of the other summer students. I'll head to the airport around 8:30 and then begin an arduous twenty-five hour journey halfway across the globe! I can't wait to get home! If I can't manage to sleep on the airplane, I've got a new book called "Icy Sparks." So far it's quite a good read.

Today I went and heard the students in KKISS, the Weizmann summer program, give talks about their research. It was fun to finally get a grasp on what everyone was doing: differential equations, immunology, structural biology, neurobiology, and so on. There were a couple talks on ways to harness the power of the sun, which would have some really powerful applications in the future. Tess's work on bat echolocation was intriguing and Daniela's talk about multiple sclerosis and a drug called Copaxone was really interesting. Though I'd already heard a bit about Zvonimir and Tanmay's research, it was still a lot of fun to hear them present their power-points. All of this hubbub about giving talks makes me eager to organize my data to give my BRAVO presentation back at the U of A.

After going to the gym with Tanmay last night, a large group of us went down to Herzl bar before finding a nice place in the Weizmann Institute grounds to lie down and watch the remains of Tuesday nights meteor shower. The sky was fairly dormant, except I did catch a glimpse of a single shooting star!

Though I really have very little else to say, I'll be sure to wrap up this blog neatly upon my return to the good ol' USA.
